Getting started
From an empty room to a furnished listing photo, and what each control does.
What this does
You give it a photo of an empty room. It gives back the same room, furnished and decorated, as one photorealistic image.
It stages, it does not renovate. Walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors and built-ins are left exactly as photographed. Only movable things are added: furniture, lighting, rugs, art, plants. That is the whole promise, and it is why a staged photo is still an honest picture of the space.
The five steps
Create a project
A project holds your staging work. It can stand for a listing, a client, a single room or one shoot. Nothing in the app depends on which, so name it whatever you will recognise later. Start from Projects. You can rename it at any time.Add one photo

Style is the only required choice. Everything else has a sensible default, so you can pick a style and press Generate. The controls are described below.Generate, and go do something else
The first version usually arrives in about a minute. You do not have to watch it. Leave the page, or close the tab, and you will find it waiting under Notifications when it finishes.Revise, choose a version, download
Not right the first time is normal. Revising is free, up to 10 times per photo. When one version is the one, mark it in use and download it.
The controls
Style is required, because pre-selecting one would spend a generation on a look nobody chose. Every other control already holds the value that gives the model its own best read of the photo, so leaving it alone is a real choice and often the right one.
- Style
- The visual direction, and the only choice you have to make. 7 styles, each with its own palette and its own furnishing rules.
- Room
- What the space is for, which decides what gets put in it. Set to Auto-detect by default, which reads the room from the photo and is right most of the time. Set it by hand when the photo is ambiguous, for example an empty box of a room you intend to sell as a home office.
- Furnishing
- How full the room comes back: Minimum, Balanced, Maximum. It is relative to the style, not absolute, so Minimalist at Maximum is a fully realised minimalist room rather than a cluttered one. Minimum shows off the space, Maximum shows off the lifestyle.
- Room size
- The width and length, in feet or metres, usually read straight off the listing sheet. Optional, and worth giving: it decides the size of each piece, a loveseat or a sectional, a queen or a king. Leave it empty rather than guess. A confident wrong number replaces the model’s own read of the photo.
- Notes
- Anything specific you want, in your own words, up to 1000 characters. “Warm wood tones, no rug” works. So does “a reading chair by the window”. Save it for what the other controls cannot say.
What a generation costs you
One photo staged is one generation, whatever happens next. How many you get per period is what a plan buys, and the price list has the numbers.
- Revisions are free. Every re-run on the same photo, up to 10, is included in that one generation.
- A refused photo is free. Every upload is checked before any staging happens. If it cannot be staged you are told why, and nothing is spent.
- A failure is free. If a generation errors it is retried, and if it still cannot finish the slot goes back.
Downloading
Download gives you a JPEG, named after the project. Several US states require a virtually staged listing photo to be disclosed as one, so the download panel can burn a short line of text into any corner. The default reads Virtually Staged, and whatever you type is remembered for the next photo so a set of twenty is typed once.
The line exists only in the copy you download. The stored image is never marked, and which version is in use makes no difference to what a download produces.
